The Heart Behind the Squad

A-Team Sidekick Squad came from our own family’s experience. We have four kids, ages 12, 6, 4, and 2, and two of them are on the autism spectrum. There are so many amazing resources and supports out there for children with autism, and we’re incredibly grateful for that. But over time, we started to notice something missing.

Our oldest daughter began to feel the weight of things in a way that was hard to explain. Teaching her about the spectrum, helping her understand that every child is different, and watching her relationships with her younger siblings change wasn’t always easy. We looked for places where she could connect with other kids who might be going through something similar, but most of what we found felt more like therapy settings than real connection.

We wanted something different. We wanted a space where kids could just be kids, meet others who understand their situation, and feel less alone.

That’s how A-Team Sidekick Squad was created. The “A-Team” is our family Alex and Ashlie, along with our four kids, Amaya, Aria, Archer, and Axel. Our goal is to create a supportive, welcoming community for siblings of children with autism. A place where they can connect, share, and realize there are other kids out there who truly get it.

Our Core Values

Acceptance

We believe every sibling deserves to be seen and heard without judgment. Our space is built on the foundation of unconditional acceptance, ensuring that no one feels alone in their journey.

Inclusion

True community means everyone belongs. We actively work to create accessible environments where siblings of all backgrounds can share their stories and find meaningful connections.

Empathy

Understanding and sharing the feelings of another is at the heart of our mission. We foster a culture of empathy that helps siblings navigate their unique experiences with grace.

Support

We provide the tools and the community to help siblings express their feelings. Our goal is to empower them with the confidence to share their truth and find their voice.
